Disney announced that its new Lyft partnership was set to launch on June 18.
Disney has jumped into the rideshare industry, to an extent, in that it has partnered with Lyft and launched new service in advance of their opening of the anticipated, ‘Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge’ attraction at both, Walt Disney World® Resort and Disneyland® Resort. Disney executives expect to see a significant rise of vehicles due to the incredible interest in the new attraction, thus the Lyft partnership will offer great convenience and bolster transportation opportunities.
Under the guidelines of this new partnership, Lyft will become a bigger part of visitors’ Disneyland® and Walt Disney World® experience. Disney has given consideration to how all transportation services will operate smoothly and exist harmoniously with other visitor traffic. And as such park officials have created specially designated visitor, taxi, and rideshare service pick-up and drop-off areas.
As before, Ubers and taxis will be able to drop off and pick up at the resort locations, but Lyft will now have specific, dedicated pick-up and drop-off areas and signage that will make it easy to utilize their services.
Lyft announced that in the fall they’ll be enhancing the overall Lyft app experience at Walt Disney World® Resort, as it will now be much easier to request a Minnie Van ride, access a more convenient pickup location, and also select a wheelchair-accessible vehicle when needed.
Recently, Disney raised the daily parking rates at their Florida and California parks. These hikes in the parking rate made ridesharing options for park visitors even more attractive. Now park visitors can skip the headaches of parking trams, and lost time in garages, while they take advantage of this new, infinitely more convenient and relaxing door-to-door service.
